Passages for the undocumented (2010-2012)

Passages for the undocumented is a performance done over a period of two years on the streets of Houston, Texas. The performance borrowed from the practices of street panhandlers to comment on the realities of migration, race, and dispossession. With slight grammatical alterations, misspellings, and odd word insertions, common expressions were transformed into awkward phrases and nonsensical but semantically loaded poetic statements. These statements were written on cardboard and shown to the public on the streets.
